Thiru J.Rajendra Prasad, a philanthropist, created a revival in the field of education in the steel city of Salem by the installation of Vysya College, Vysya Institute of Management Studies(VIMS) ,Vysya College of Education(B.Ed) and Vasavi Vidhya Trust Group of Institutions, Jairam College of Arts and Science , Jairam Public school and Jairam Higher Secondary School. His helping hands extended to provide quality education to the rural and urbanities. He was born in 1948 and completed his education in the year 1964. He supplied grams, pulses, sugar, wheat, maida and kirana products to entire Tamilnadu from the year 1967 to 1978.

In 1977, he started Fried gram mill in Erode named as “Swastik Brand” which was outcome of his friends Raja and Ganapathy, he acknowledged their help and named it as “Rajaganapathy Mill”. Then he started “Bhuvana Stores” in Shevapet and became the market leader in selling the products to entire Tamilandu. Through his unique knowledge he started a store in Pondicherry and was successful. He started jairam Theatre in the year 1982 and to add feathers to his cap he started Bhuvan Warehouse Corporation in the year 1984 which still exists in Shevapet.

In this mean time, Vysya community people, through Vasavi Vidya Trust, incepted Vysya College in 1989 – 1990. The trust members requested Thiru. J.Rajendra Prasad to join as life member in the trust. He was coronate as the secretary of the institution on 21.11.1990. In the beginning, the institution had only 65 students and 15 faculty members and now it is turned over 11 UG, 9 PG and 5 M.Phil Programmes and 75 faculty members through his commitment, perseverance, enthusiasm and dedication. His unquenchable thirst to provide quality education in the field of education, management education and IT, made him to establish Vysya College of Education which is affiliated to Tamilnadu Teacher Education University, Chennai and Vasavi Vidhya Trust Group of Institutions (Faculty of MBA and MCA) affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.

Vasavi Vidhya Trust Chairman Thiru. R.P.Sarathy insisted him to start a school to provide quality education at school level. To fulfill his wish, he energized to start a school named “ Bhuvana Junior College” in 2000. Unfortunately he couldn’t get permission to start the school. But this obstacle did not stop his enthusiastic spirit instead it made him to start his own college named “ Jairam arts and Science College” in the memory of his father Jairam Chettiar in 2001. At present, in this Hi-tech institution, more than 2700 students pursuing their graduation. His empowering vision to start a school has come true in 2011 and he started “ Jairam Public School” and Jairam Higher Secondary School in 2015. His commitment to professional excellence and global quality is today a benchmark for most of the intuitions in and around the Salem district.

Nowadays industries expect students as industry readiness instead of bookish. So, here we implement lot of facilities to make the student with complete skills and the industry expectation. We provide study materials in the form of print outs which will be prepared by well qualified members of the staff. Faculty members and students jointly release a monthly magazine and have an analysis on that to upgrade the latest trends. We believe that students can learn many things outside the classroom rather than inside. So, we arrange industrial visits to the students to know much more about the companies with real time experience. Every week student community organize a Management and Computing Forum.
